FROM THE LAKE OF CONSTANCE TO CUTTING-EDGE ENGINEERING

Adrian started his engineering journey at the Lake of Constance, where he joined a dual-study programme in Electrical Engineering with ZF Group. From 2018 to 2021, he split his time between studying and working at ZF. This gave him the chance to combine theory with practice, working on exciting projects in Autonomous Driving and Electric Machines.

One of his standout projects was his Bachelor’s thesis, which focused on using Electromagnetic Simulations to develop new sensor technology for Electric Machines. He also worked with ZF’s team in Japan on integrating a new Electric Drive into a customer’s vehicle. These experiences helped him build a strong foundation in Automotive Technology and Electric Machine Design.

MOVING TO MUNICH AND DEEPENING HIS EXPERTISE

After finishing his Bachelor’s degree, Adrian moved to Munich to pursue his Master’s at the Technical University of Munich. During his Master’s studies, he developed in-depth expertise in all key components of modern electric drives, including Power Electronics, Batteries, and Electric Machines. His studies culminated in a Master’s thesis focused on investigating inhomogeneities in Lithium-Ion Battery Cells using Electrochemical Simulations. His time at TUM also included a semester abroad at KTH in Stockholm, where he further gained experience in Control Engineering.

FROM STUDENT PROJECTS TO PROFESSIONAL INNOVATION

During his Master’s, Adrian spent two years with the TUfast Racing Team, the Formula Student Team at TUM. He started by designing and building a new Low Voltage Accumulator, including a Battery Management System, working on both hardware and software. Later, he became Technical Director for Electrics, responsible for High-Voltage, Low-Voltage, and Autonomous Systems, playing a key role in the 2024 team. During this time, he also had his first interactions with DeepDrive, gaining insights into cutting-edge automotive technologies.

After graduating in June 2024, Adrian joined us just two months later. Drawn by the dynamic environment and motivated team, he saw DeepDrive as the perfect place to continue working on Electric Machines, grow as an engineer and push the limits of what’s possible in the industry.

FOCUSING ON ELECTROMAGNETIC ENGINEERING AT DEEPDRIVE

Adrian is focused on Electromagnetic Simulations and Machine Design. He works on everything from initial calculations for customer requests to designing new concepts and evaluating improvements. His role also includes developing tools and software for simulations, ensuring the team can deliver precise and efficient solutions for their projects.

OUTSIDE OF WORK

Outside the office, Adrian is still closely connected to TUfast, where he serves on the board, helping with the organisation and smooth running of the team. In his free time, he’s an outdoor enthusiast who loves snowboarding in the winter and running or cycling in the summer. Adrian also plays football with a local team in his home village, enjoying the balance these activities bring to his busy life.
