A STRONG FOUNDATION IN MECHATRONICS AND INDUSTRIAL TECHNOLOGY
Daniel’s technical journey began with a mechatronics apprenticeship at Giesecke & Devrient, where he trained in a specialised setup that involved practical learning at MTU AeroEngines. This dual-experience approach gave him a solid foundation in mechanical systems, electronics, and automation, allowing him to gain a broad understanding of industrial technology.
After completing his apprenticeship, he spent over four years at Vanderlande, working in baggage handling system maintenance at Munich Airport. His role focused on ensuring the smooth and reliable operation of the airport’s conveyor systems, helping to keep luggage moving efficiently and on time. With experience in troubleshooting and maintaining complex machinery, he developed a strong technical skill set that prepared him for more advanced roles in the field.
Looking to deepen his knowledge, Daniel pursued a technician qualification in mechatronics, specialising in robotics, automation, and industrial control systems. This further strengthened his expertise and expanded his ability to work across different areas of engineering and technology.
JOINING DEEPDRIVE AND WORKING IN TEST BENCH OPERATIONS
Daniel first heard about DeepDrive through Maxi Koller, a former colleague of his father. When he learnt about the opportunity, he saw it as a chance to apply his technical expertise in an innovative and fast-paced environment, joining the company as a test bench operator and technician.
At DeepDrive, he is responsible for preparing and executing high-speed and high-torque motor tests. His work involves setting up motors, assembling components, and ensuring that all connections are correctly in place. Once the test bench is ready, he conducts different testing procedures, starting with warm-up phases and passive tests before moving on to active performance assessments such as efficiency mapping. In addition to testing, he is involved in setting up and calibrating measurement tools to ensure accurate and reliable data collection.
Currently, he is focused on improving the test bench setup, refining its performance, and making adjustments to enhance efficiency. As DeepDrive continues to expand, he plays an important role in ensuring that motors are tested to the highest standards with precision and consistency.
LIFE OUTSIDE OF WORK
Outside of DeepDrive, Daniel enjoys spending time outdoors, making the most of both summer and winter activities. In the warmer months, he spends his free time fishing and hiking, enjoying the peace of nature. During winter, skiing is his biggest passion, and he takes every opportunity to head to the mountains whenever possible.
Daniel’s hands-on technical expertise and problem-solving mindset make him a key part of DeepDrive’s test bench operations, ensuring that every motor tested meets the highest standards of performance and reliability.
