THE INNOVATOR

Today, we have the pleasure of introducing you to one of the brilliant minds behind DeepDrive’s groundbreaking technology. Meet Maxi Habersbrunner our Co-founder, innovator extraordinaire and electric mobility enthusiast. Maxi’s passion for electrification started at a young age, thanks to his father’s workshop and love for electric motors. At the age of 5, Maxi received his first Kettcar from his father, which they later electrified using a car battery placed between the legs of the driver. Maxi’s mother was delighted because she had to throw away all of his pants because the battery acid burned holes in many of them.
 

THE JOURNEY

Maxi’s upbringing in the workshop and electro-lab was the perfect preparation for his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from TU Munich. However, after graduation, Maxi’s career veered away from electrification until 2010 when he was recruited to work on the first electric vehicle project at TUfast. He spent three years working on the project and building a test bench, reigniting his passion for electrification. Maxi’s love for motorsport began during his time in Formula Student, where he met Chris and Stefan. After Formula Student, Maxi continued working in motorsport at Audi Motorsport in Ingolstadt before moving to Compact Dynamics to work on the development of drive systems for LMP prototypes.
 

THE DEEPDRIVE FOUNDING STORY

In 2020, Chris and Stefan approached Maxi about joining their new startup, DeepDrive. The opportunity to work on a new project from the ground up and to build infrastructure and test benches excited Maxi, and he immediately wanted to join the ride. Today, DeepDrive is a thriving company that has secured significant funding and is on its way to making its mark in the world of electrification. For Maxi, the most exciting part of DeepDrive is the opportunity to take his passion for electrification from prototype to series production. He relishes the challenge of making the technology affordable and accessible to the masses, and he looks forward to the day when cars on the street are powered by DeepDrive motors.
