STARTING A NEW CHAPTER IN GERMANY
Mukul grew up on the small island Mauritius , dreaming of a career in the automotive industry. He completed high school in his homeland with the Cambridge A Levels qualification, excelling in subjects such as Mathematics and Physics. Determined to pursue his goals, he decided to move to Germany to pursue a bachelor’s degree . Before beginning university, he spent a year learning German, progressing from an absolute beginner to C1 proficiency. Though it was challenging, Mukul credits his multilingual background—speaking English, French, Hindi, and the Mauritian national language—as a strong foundation for mastering a new language.

ACADEMIC JOURNEY AND TUFAST EXPERIENCE
In 2019, Mukul began his Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering at the Technical University of Munich, focusing on Electromobility. TUM’s reputation for providing hands-on opportunities in engineering and research attracted him, alongside its excellent facilities for student projects. During his studies, he joined TUfast, TU’s Formula Student team, where he worked on wiring harnesses for race cars. This experience not only allowed him to apply his technical knowledge but also introduced him to DeepDrive, as most of our founders and team members are former TUfast members.

JOINING DEEPDRIVE
In March 2023, Mukul joined DeepDrive as a working student, marking his first-ever job. Transitioning from academic projects to professional work was a significant milestone for him, bringing both excitement and a steep learning curve. Initially unfamiliar with the dynamics of a workplace setting, he approached the experience with curiosity and a desire to learn. With support from his mentor Maxi, one of our co-founders, and the welcoming team, he quickly adjusted and grew in confidence. Mukul describes this opportunity as a privilege, offering him hands-on experience that is often missing in traditional university courses.

RESPONSIBILITIES AT DEEPDRIVE
At DeepDrive, Mukul works at the test bench. His tasks include ensuring the electrical infrastructure is functioning properly, inspecting wiring and equipment connections, and supporting the mechanical team with mounting and alignment tasks for devices under test. Additionally, he assists with preparing the test environment and setting up hardware and screens to ensure everything runs smoothly.

Mukul appreciates how these responsibilities allow him to see the bigger picture of engineering projects while also teaching him the importance of attention to detail. He is especially excited about gaining practical experience in the field of Electromobility, an area he has been passionate about since starting his studies.

LIFE OUTSIDE WORK
Outside of work, Mukul enjoys spending time with friends, strolling through the city, and relaxing over coffee. As someone who grew up on an island, swimming remains one of his favourite hobbies. In his spare time, he enjoys working on small projects using Arduino, an open-source electronics platform for building interactive hardware-software systems. He experiments with automation and control systems and recently built an automated bin that uses sensors to detect movement and lift the lid. These projects give him the opportunity to apply his engineering skills creatively while enjoying the process.
