EDUCATION AND EARLY EXPERIENCE
Originally from France, Paul-Antoine began his Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne. During this time, he completed a year-long exchange at the Technical University of Munich, where he joined TUfast, a Formula Student team, and took charge of the steering system for an autonomous race car.
Eager to build on this foundation, Paul-Antoine returned to Switzerland to pursue a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering at EPFL, with a minor in Innovation and Management. During his Master’s, he joined the EPFL Racing Team as Vice President and Head of Static Events. For his Master’s Thesis, Paul expanded his international experience by conducting research at McGill University in Canada. There, he developed a moulding compound made from recycled carbon fibre for high-performance applications, focusing on reusing materials that would typically be discarded.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE IN FRANCE AND JAPAN
Paul-Antoine’s professional journey began with a six-month internship in Advanced Engineering at Delfingen, a French automotive supplier, where he focused on digitalising production processes and introducing innovative manufacturing techniques. This role required a thorough understanding of product design and production methods, allowing him to develop solutions for future manufacturing needs.
Following this internship, Paul-Antoine took on a full-time position as a Project Manager at Valeo, a French automotive company, working on-site in Japan near Tokyo. In this role, he managed project timelines, coordinated deliveries, and maintained close communication with the team. This experience in the Japanese automotive industry gave him valuable insights into Japanese work culture and further developed his project management skills in a high-demand environment.
JOINING DEEPDRIVE AND FINDING A SENSE OF COMMUNITY
In 2024, Paul-Antoine joined DeepDrive, where he recognised a collaborative spirit similar to his time with TUfast, as many of his colleagues are former members of Formula Student team. Now a Mechanical Engineer within the Sales Team at DeepDrive, Paul-Antoine is responsible for creating customised motor packages for clients, based on DeepDrive’s In-Wheel and Central Drive motors. His work includes detailed discussions with clients to understand specific requirements such as connection points, dimensions, and placement within vehicles. He collaborates closely with the Systems Engineering team to align motor design with client needs. Additionally, he supports the Marketing team by preparing technical exhibits for major industry events, including CES and IAA, enhancing DeepDrive’s public profile in the electric mobility sector.
Paul-Antoine values the close-knit, collaborative culture at DeepDrive, where the dynamic, young environment allows for quick decision-making and innovation. He enjoys helping to onboard new colleagues across various departments as the company grows and looks forward to supporting DeepDrive as it moves towards large-scale production.
LIFE OUTSIDE OF WORK
In his personal time, Paul-Antoine enjoys a variety of activities, including cooking, sports, board games, and reading. Growing up in the French Alps, he has a strong connection to the mountains, spending his free time skiing, backcountry skiing, snowboarding, and hiking. Passionate about cooking, Paul-Antoine draws inspiration from Japanese, Italian, and French cuisines, while also exploring German dishes during his time in Munich. At home, he enjoys playing board games with friends and often reads science fiction, exploring the potential social and technological developments.
