The Efficiency Conundrum

As we stated in the frist part of our DeepDive, EVs have come a long way, however they still face a significant hurdle when it comes to efficiency. It’s alarming to realize that from plug to wheel, more than 40% of electric energy is wasted in the current state of EV technology. This inefficiency results in reduced range, larger and costlier batteries, and higher operating costs. It’s a problem we are determined to solve.

The Path to Efficiency and Cost-effectiveness

At DeepDrive, we constantly strive for innovation and efficiency. While our revolutionary technology has already transformed the in-wheel drive system, today we delve into the power of our central drive integration. Our central drive architecture harnesses the advantages of our core technology: The Dual Rotor, delivering exceptional performance and cost-effectiveness.

Optimizing Efficiency

The Dual Rotor technology continues to impress in central drive applications. The low iron losses significantly improve efficiency in low torque operations, resulting in enhanced overall energy utilization. By offering high torque output, we enable the use of single-stage gearboxes, reducing losses compared to two-stage gearboxes commonly found in conventional systems. This optimization translates into improved efficiency, enabling electric vehicles to achieve their maximum potential.

Cost-effective Manufacturing

DeepDrive’s commitment to cost efficiency is exemplified in our central drive units. With our technology, we’ve achieved remarkable material savings and streamlined manufacturing processes, reducing both the motor and drive unit costs. Our central drive units are best-in-class, excelling in weight, cost, and efficiency parameters. We’re proud to develop these units for both mainstream and large electric vehicles, offering torque outputs ranging from 2500 Nm to 5000 Nm and power outputs from 200 kW to 350 kW.

Compatibility and Collaboration

One of the significant advantages of our compact central drive units is their compatibility with all current electric vehicle platforms. This seamless integration allows for easy adoption and quick time to market, making our technology a viable solution for existing vehicle manufacturers. The industry has taken notice, and we’ve already initiated collaborations with various automotive OEMs who share our vision for transforming electric mobility.
